Curvelet and Ovalet Tulip Tutorial Series

You can find all the tulip tutorials and all the info you need here!

The series is split into different shapes, and skill levels a bit like game modes so you can choose the one that fits your skills or your current effort level! Here’s a breakdown of the levels:

  • Novice Mode – This is entirely basic curvelet and ovalet blocks, so if you can make a quarter circle curvelet, and a quarter oval ovalet you’re ready to go!
  • Journeyman Mode – Here we introduce half inset stars, and half circles/half ovals. If you’re comfortable with half circles/ovals, but not inset stars you can mix and match with the Novice Mode. (There’s some assumed knowledge as the levels increase.)
  • Master Mode – For this level we’re using half inset stars, and half circles/ovals, but we’re working some of these into the same background fabric. Once you’re comfortable with the Journeyman Mode this is an extra little challenge that uses the same skills!

And here’s the shapes we’ll cover:

Mix and match modes, use more leaves, mix shapes! Once you get the basic concept have a lot of fun making up your own patchwork tulip gardens!

(The above photo combines Tall and Short Ovalet Tulips, and a couple different ways of making stems and leaves. The Tutorials as part of the series just cover the double leaf option, but mix and match! Have fun with trying new stem and leaf combinations!)
