Leopard Print Pattern

I had been wanting to make a repeating leopard print block for a long time then got inspired by Inktober‘s 52 week challenge in January to finally set out to design one!

Inktober is an account on Instagram that runs a challenge every October to inspire people that do different sorts of ink drawings. They have also been running a challenge throughout the year with weekly prompts. I thought it would be a great idea to jump on their bandwagon and try to do a pattern a week to help hone my foundation paper piecing pattern skills and build up my stock of patterns a bit. I didn’t get past week 1!

The prompt of “wild” for week 1 was the perfect opportunity for my to finally get my repeating leopard print foundation paper piecing block designed and it turned into the Lisa Frank animal print of my childhood dreams!

The Pattern

The pattern is good for people that are confident with their foundation paper piecing skills. There are no y-seams, or tricky small pieces, but there is a lot of joining sections together!

I’ve included a page in the pattern with rough instructions on how to get this rainbow effect since the it’s written for 3 colours making it very versatile!

A single block is 24″x14″ which is sizeable, but if you combine more than one you can get some neat effects by playing with the colour! Check out the different block options in this little video below:
